More than turn-by-turn

What NUNAV Navigation takes care of on the road.

01

A route for every journey

Collaborative Routing coordinates your route with other NUNAV journeys, so everyone is not automatically sent along the same diversion.

02

Plan a reliable arrival

Live traffic data and predictions continuously feed into your route and arrival time, giving you more certainty on the road.

03

Keep roadworks in view

Roadworks and closures are considered during routing. When conditions change, NUNAV recalculates your journey.

04

Reach events more easily

At connected events, NUNAV can guide you beyond the venue entrance and towards the designated parking areas.

05

Free and ad-free

No registration, hidden fees or advertising: choose your destination and start driving.

06

Use it in your car

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto put turn-by-turn navigation where you need it while driving.

NUNAV Navigation needs an active internet connection for up-to-date routes. The app is available across Europe and the United Kingdom.

Live traffic experiment with ADAC

120 minutes less driving time.

60 participants drove the same route through Hanover’s rush-hour traffic using either NUNAV or Google Maps. Around 30 of them used NUNAV and arrived almost four minutes earlier on average. Combined, that adds up to roughly 120 minutes less driving time than the Google group.

NUNAV Collaborative Routing

What is Collaborative Routing?

With Collaborative Routing, your route is not calculated in isolation. NUNAV considers the entire road network and coordinates every user’s individual route as an intelligent swarm. While traditional navigation sends many vehicles along the same supposedly fastest road, NUNAV distributes traffic proactively, helping it flow instead of merely shifting the jam.

Questions about Collaborative Routing

Why is Collaborative Routing better?

Traditional navigation primarily looks for the currently fastest route for one vehicle. When many drivers receive the same recommendation, congestion can simply move elsewhere. Collaborative Routing coordinates individual routes across the whole road network instead. The goal is not only a good route for you, but better traffic flow for everyone. In the joint ADAC field test, the NUNAV group arrived almost four minutes earlier on average and spent less time standing still.

Doesn’t Google do that too?

Google Maps also considers traffic data and recalculates routes when needed. NUNAV’s distinct approach is explicit coordination between routes: vehicles are not independently sent along the same supposedly fastest road, but distributed proactively across different suitable roads. We cannot assess another provider’s internal algorithms; the ADAC traffic experiment therefore compared both systems under the same real-world conditions.

How many people take part in Collaborative Routing?

Every active journey with NUNAV becomes part of the coordinated swarm. The number changes continuously and is therefore not published as one fixed participant count. To calculate a good route, NUNAV also combines participating journeys with live traffic conditions and traffic predictions. The more vehicles travel in a coordinated way, the greater the shared effect on traffic flow can become.

Do I have to take a detour for everyone else?

Sometimes the suggested route is slightly longer in distance, yet still faster or more relaxed because you spend less time in stop-and-go traffic. NUNAV does not distribute vehicles arbitrarily; it finds a suitable individual route based on current and expected traffic. If you choose another road, the app recalculates your route.
